Before you begin . . .

  • This circuit takes up to 90 minutes to complete so clear your schedule and make mental preparations so you can relax in your environment.
  • The second step requires a lot of pillows so gather them up before beginning
  • Before starting, the pregnant person should empty their bladder!
  • Have a nice drink nearby, and make sure it has a straw!
  • If you are having contractions, this circuit should be done through contractions, try not to change positions between steps if you can help it!!

"How often should I do this Circuit?"

"I usually suggest that people start practicing the circuit at about 37 weeks, starting with 10 minutes per position per day, adding a few minutes each day until they get to the full 90 minutes. In late pregnancy, muscle strength and stamina are generally not at their best.

For many people, both the knee chest and the upright exercises can be challenging when practiced for 30 minutes each. By starting slowly, your muscles adapt to the new positions and you get a chance to learn both what feels right to you and how your baby reacts to the movements. The practice time is a wonderful chance to connect with your body and baby as you prepare for your upcoming birth, both physically and emotionally.

That being said, if you don't learn of this process until it's suggested to you in labor, that's ok too! Just do your best and know that your body is strong and capable of doing the work of labor.."
